Meet Our Team

Chris is the founder of Clay-King.com. He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1973. He started a retail arts and crafts supply store in October of that same year, which would eventually evolve into an online outfit catering to the pottery and ceramic industries. His hobbies include amateur radio, fishing, boating, and traveling the world.

April has been around Clay King since the beginning and has enjoyed watching it grow and evolve. She loves the opportunity to work alongside the coolest people in the industry!

Erin is our sales manager and one of Clay-King’s resident potters. She studied ceramics and glass blowing at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and received a degree in art history from Converse College in 2010. Before joining the Clay-King team, she began throwing pots at 14 years old and worked ten years as a production potter, specializing in majolica. Erin is happy to help our customers with technical support, troubleshooting, studio setups, or any and all things ceramics and glass!

Savanna has been working with clay for 10 years and has experience with both pottery and sculpture. She taught pottery for years at local community studios and homeschool collectives and has worked as a studio assistant for a few local artists, so she also has experience with glaze mixing and plaster mold making.

Lori works in sales and customer service. She can be found in the office, retail store, studio and around the kiln pad teaching workshops. Her interest in ceramics began in 2008. Lori has a degree in education from Marshall University. She joined the Clay-King team in January 2021.

Tricia travels each day from the mtns of NC to share her knowledge and friendly spirit with our Clay King customers. Serving several roles at Clay King, she may be found teaching beginner pottery classes and private students, planning workshops and helping customers as part of our sales team. Tricia received her BA from Lenoir Rhyne University but gained her pottery knowledge with 20 +years of practice and credits the many potter friends that have inspired her over the years. Tricia is happy to share her experience with studio set up for home studios, collegiate studios, gallery management and show setup to help our customers make the best clay related decisions. Tricia has been part of our team since 2021.

Brett enhances the online shopping experience by updating product information, creating relevant newsletters, and introducing new savings opportunities and promotions.

Angela ensures our warehouse is always operating efficiently, helping our team fulfill orders as quickly as possible. She organizes stock shipments from our manufacturers and coordinates with our sales and management teams to provide accurate estimated arrival dates on all new and pre-ordered products.

Abby has been a Clay-King team member since 2021. She was first introduced to ceramics by her dad who was self-taught potter. Abby attended Lander University for visual arts and graphic design, but ended up taking pottery classes and falling in love again. She now works in the Clay-King warehouse helping stock, pull, pack and ship orders.

Will has been a potter for over a decade, and working with Clay King since 2016! He’s an avid clay enthusiast and has worked in a wide variety of roles within the ceramics world that has given him the knowledge and experience to help serve the clay community in impactful ways. Outside of managing Clay King’s social media and marketing efforts he runs his own growing pottery studio- Donovan Pottery. Will also enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 boys, making memes, running a lot, and will absolutely demolish anyone in LOTR trivia.
