Frozen glaze? 🥶 No worries. Here’s a fix!
Sometimes glazes can freeze in transit, or in uninsulated studios. This can seem like a huge problem, but luckily there’s solutions.

Here are the 3 steps to reconstituting glaze that has frozen:

🥶 1. Determine if your glazes have frozen. Even if it’s been thawed, frozen glazes will be thicker and chunkier than normal potentially with ice crystals on the surface. Try shaking the bottle, frozen glaze will not slosh and feel very solid.

🥶 2. Thaw the glaze. The fastest way is under running warm water, but leaving at warm room temp will work too. We’d recommend against microwaving unless you do short bursts of low power, and check it often. The plastic glaze containers can break down and melt under prolonged microwave exposure.

🥶 3. Mix the glaze back up. Once thawed, it’s important to mix it well again before using. This can be done with simple tools like a sieve and paintbrush, or with an immersion blender.

Once mixed or sieved, you’re glaze will be good to use, and apply to any bisqueware just as well as it ever would have done.
